Carbon Landscape Trails

The Carbon Trail project offers a programme of physical access improvements to the Carbon Landscape improving gateways sites and developing a ‘Carbon Trail’ linking key sites between the three landscape character areas a series three shorter Carbon Trails or ‘Loops’. Bringing together a landscape scale picture for residents and visitors alike by anchoring the stories, interpretations and scientific information to particular geographic locations and points in time. The timeline of formation, exploitation and restoration will be an integral part of the landscape story. The Mossland Gateway will not only improve the access to Chat Moss, Salford but establish excellent links to the surrounding recreational networks. The project will form an important green link to the wider landscape and visitor attractions including, the Bridgewater Canal, the proposed RHS Garden and Mossland Park, Astley Colliery, Rixton Clay Pits and the Glazebrook Trail.
