The Mersey Rivers Trust is training ‘River Guardian’ volunteers to help monitor water quality for a river bank habitat restoration project within the Low Hall Local Nature Reserve. The project will improve the environment for people and wildlife and could include a reed bed, a Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS) and riverside habitat improvements.  The River Guardians will keep a ‘citizen scientists’ eye on Hey Brook on a regular basis.  Later, River Guardians will be needed for a follow-on wetland project elsewhere in the in the Carbon Landscape area. Where: Low Hall nature reserve, between Hindley and Platt Bridge When: Regular week day and occasional weekend volunteering opportunities What: Water quality & Invertebrate surveys, practical habitat management and biological recording
