Skills

Volunteer with us and benefit from a wide range of free accredited and hands on training. If you’re looking for a new hobby or wanting a career in conservation our free training programme is perfect for you. Our training is offered on a level system, the more you volunteer the more bespoke your training will be for your needs.

Skills
  • Level 1 – The beginners guide to species ID, understanding what lives and moves through our landscape and the retention of heritage skills like willow weaving.
  • Level 2 – Volunteer more than twice and access more in-depth species ID workshops and accredited AQA qualifications. Perfect for hands on learners, our accredited training varies from leading a group to hedge laying, tool use and understanding wetland and peatland conservation.
  • Level 3 – For above and beyond volunteers who give over 500 hours to their local ex-industrial wildlife site, we offer bespoke training. These include outdoor first aid qualifications and using power tools such as Brush cutters or chain saws.

6 week placements are also offered for increasing your knowledge in working on urban conservation projects, with their own bespoke training package.

We also employ trainees annually to take that first step on the conservation career ladder. Check out their blog to see what they get up to!
