Starting at Lancashire Mining Museum, walk towards Higher Green Lane and turn right . Take the first right ono Whitehead Lane and walk for roughly 1km before turning left before you cross over the canal bridge.
Just over 200m down the path, turn left to go through a public right of way through the field. Follow the right of way to the right before turning left along Stirrup Brook. Follow this path up the Vicars Hall Lane, were you will be turning right and walking down to the canal bridge, crossing over and turning right to walk along the Bridgewater canal tow path.
After passing the next bridge, look out for a path on the left into Whitehead Hall Millennium Green Meadow. Follow this path (or take the opportunity to wander around the site) before reaching Lower Green Lane and turning right. Go over the bridge to Higher Green Lane, stop at the Old Boathouse Pub if you fancy a drink or some really good food, or go on ahead to the Lancashire Mining Museum, which also has a café for visitors (please note, opening times for the museum vary so check before you go if it is open).
