Looking for Eden

Description:

Throughout the Carbon Landscape project, writers and photographers have explored the landscapes. Some are professional photographers, and some people were using a camera for the first time. Some writers have published work, while some are beginning their writing journey. Most groups were visiting the sites for the first time and learning about the history, but some people already have valuable lived experience and expertise that they wanted to share. The work has been brought together into a collection titled Looking for Eden. Each piece adds to our understanding of our local landscapes, exploring themes such as the exploitation of local mosses and peat, how landscape use has changes over time and the hope that recent restoration has brought to local communities. All group and individuals involved have generously shared their work and their insights. This collective expertise will help us understand, preserve, and protect our Carbon Landscapes in the future. Many thanks to Leonard Cheshire, Oakwood Academy, The Hamlets, Salford Young Carers (Gaddum), Word in Edgeways and Salford Photographic Group for their valuable contributions. Thanks also to Joe Roper, Mario Popham, Ralph Hoyte and Rachael Burns for contributing to and supporting the work.
