The Carbon Landscape has been working with British cycling to develop some of the trails around the carbon landscape into family friendly bike trails. This involved developing a new Augmented Reality app that will allow people to engage with, and learn about local wildlife and history of each area.
Along the trails you will find signposts with prompts on, inviting you to either download the app on your smartphone or device (this can be done at home beforehand), or explore it whilst you are out and about. We are working with local schools and groups to explore the app, and to help us promote the trails by designing posters.
These bike trails are spread across the carbon landscape, and include Wigan Flashes, Amberswood and Bickershaw, Three Sisters, New Cut Canal, Burtonwood Forest park, Black bear canal and Little Woolden.
So far, over 40 signs have been installed and are hoping to have completed all of the installation in the New Year.
