Today is World Wetland Day!
Restoring and protecting our precious wetlands is a major part of the Carbon Landscape Partnership! Wetlands are incredible habitats that are among the most productive ecosystems in the world! They store rain like sponges which helps to protect us from extreme weather such as floods. They are also home to a vast variety of wildlife such as plants, insects, birds and many more!
Over the years the Carbon Landscape has made major progress in not only maintaining pre-existing wetlands but to also re-wetting land that has previously been drained for agricultural purposes. By doing this we have been able to re-introduce wetland species to their native habitats! As you can see from the photos the results from some of our sites are incredible!
