Low Hall and Victoria Fields

Ramble between wetlands

Low Hall Nature Reserve is a wonderful pocket of nature located in Wigan. When you arrive at the Low Hall car park head through the gate and walk past the stone circle to the Totem Pole marking the crossroads of the paths. Continue straight ahead into the woods, keeping an eye out for the hidden sculptures in the trees. At the end of this path, continue anti-clockwise around the lake, following the path alongside the pipeline. At the end, turn right, and follow the trail that eventually takes you into the woodlands of Victoria Fields. Follow the gravel path that forms a figure of eight through the woodland. The site provides a rich habitat for many species of wildlife, so you may see a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Common Buzzard, a Fox, or even a Roe Deer.

This trail loops back out of Victoria Fields, where you will re-join the path that leads you back towards Low Hall Nature Reserve. Re-join the path where you left, taking a right turn, and continue to follow the lake in an anti-clockwise direction. Eventually, you will arrive back at the car park where you started.
