We simply could not do the work we do without our volunteers.

Dedicated individuals are working each week across Wigan, Warrington and Salford to create a bigger, better and more joined up landscape.

Practical habitat management work, biological surveys, inspiring communities and assisting with education events, our volunteers our transforming spaces for wildlife and people alike.

We are so lucky to have such passionate and knowledgeable people working alongside us.

"I thorougly enoy volunteering with The Carbon Landscape, it's a really relaxed and friendly environment and we work on some fantastic sites. I think it is the work which is truly worthwhile, but the attitude and friendliness of the people you meet on such projects is so refreshing." - Brian, Carbon Landscape volunteer.

"The benefits of outdoor spaces for people’s mental health and wellbeing is truly remarkable and is certainly something that I am very passionate about. Volunteering allows me to safely explore green spaces and to make new friends. It’s truly amazing to see the positive impact people can have on the landscape. Volunteering is also very educational and just goes to show that you don't have to be in a classroom to learn." - Dawn, Carbon Landscape Volunteer.

To say a big thank you to all our volunteers we took them out on an exclusive tour of Bickershaw Country Park, guided by Project Manager, Mark Champion.

Bickershaw itself has seen huge transformation over the years and much of this can be attributed to the hard work of volunteers.

At the end of our tour we were met by the Bickershaw project team and our partners, City of Trees, to assist with some tree planting, leaving a legacy on the park which will last for many years to come.

It was fantastic to be able to celebrate our volunteers and to be able to show them the positive impact that people can have on their local greenspaces.

Volunteering opportunities with The Carbon Landscape are exceptionally diverse and offer a fantastic way to progress in a career, meet new people and protect the natural environment for future generations.

Here at The Carbon Landscape we offer all of our volunteers a free and extensive training package. This package is individually tailored to ensure that our volunteers get the most support from us that they possibly can.
